ajc architects is excited to partner with GIV Group on the revitalization and expansion of Sunrise Metro, a welcoming permanent supportive housing community located on a 2.5-acre site near the 600 South ramp in Salt Lake City.
This multi-phased project thoughtfully blends renovation and new construction. The first phase focuses on upgrading 100 existing residential units across four levels, including improvements to building systems to better support long-term performance and resident comfort. In addition, the project takes advantage of the building’s original structural capacity to build upward, adding 18 new units across two additional levels in the south wing.
A major highlight of the project is a new, standalone 6-story building that introduces 100 new affordable homes. Designed with community in mind, the new building includes shared spaces that encourage connection and support, such as common areas, group rooms, administrative offices for property management and caseworkers, and back-of-house spaces that keep the building running smoothly.
An inviting outdoor courtyard ties the development together, offering places to gather and relax with seating areas, raised gardening beds for residents, and landscaped spaces that enhance the overall outdoor experience.
Sunrise Metro is fully 100% electric and is pursuing Enterprise Green Communities certification, reflecting a strong commitment to sustainability, comfort, and long-term community health. Together, we are creating a warm and supportive place to call home.
