Nested just south of the Brian Head slopes, ajc architects is nearing completion of a private single-family vacation residence. We are excited to be expanding our work in this spectacular corner of southern Utah.
Brian Head sits atop the Markagunt Plateau at nearly 9,800 feet, surrounded by the forests and canyons of the Dixie National Forest. From the start, our client’s main priority was to capture these breathtaking views, and every decision we made was in service of that goal.
That vision came with real challenges. Designing and building on an exceptionally steep grade shaped everything, from how the structures are positioned on the hillside to how they meet the landscape around them. To handle drainage without disrupting the natural aesthetic, we utilized french drains in place of traditional downspouts, keeping the exterior clean and in harmony with the surroundings.
Ultimately, we’ve achieved a bespoke solution for an extraordinary place.
