Richfield, a hub for regional outdoor adventure, also known for it’s beautiful natural surroundings and rich cultural heritage, is preparing to welcome two State Office Buildings. Guided by principles of efficiency, inclusivity, and connection to place, this civic hub is being designed to connect people with essential state provided services.
Currently in design, Richfield’s State Office Buildings will consist of a new facility with renovations to an existing building which will house the Utah Highway Patrol. Departments will include Health and Human Services spaces, the State Tax Commission, Public Safety, Driver’s License Division, and Workforce Services.
The building design draws from the city’s enduring relationship to pattern—found in its street grid, circular irrigation pivots, and cultural craft traditions—to create coherence between land, community, and form. Inspired by Southern Paiute basketry and Latter Day Saint quilt-making, the design translates repetition and variation into a contemporary expression of identity, resilience, and shared authorship. In addition, public art will be thoughtfully integrated into the entry plaza, creating a deeper connection to place and adding meaning to the shared environment.
