Judges comments included:
“It’s a really strong, clear plan. Even how the electrical conduit is detailed within the wood structure—is beautiful.”
“The repetitive structure creates a strong, rhythmic flow. The thin roof profile is particularly striking, adding a sense of lightness that’s quite beautiful—especially since such elements can often feel heavy. It’s impressive how the detailing achieves that level of finesse. It’s also a really nice relationship between the steel and wood structures; it’s an excellent project.”
“The landscape is quite intriguing, grounded in a simple yet effective idea. The use of slit slats is a clever strategy, and it’s interesting to see this concept applied, especially in the front area where it’s not commonly found. Additionally, the landscape plays with linear elements, echoing the repetition of lines seen in the roof. This interplay of linear components throughout the design enhances the overall interest of the space.”
ajc architects’ principals Heber Slabbert, Justin Heppler, and Dijana Rambo were on hand to accept the prestigious award.
