SLCC + University of Utah Juniper Academic Building Garners LEED Gold certification
Salt Lake Community College and the University of Utah’s Juniper Academic Building bring higher education opportunities to the southwest part of the Salt Lake Valley. The building’s design has yielded a highly sustainable facility which recently received LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
LEED Gold certification indicates that a building has excelled in sustainable design and operational efficiencies, while meeting a comprehensive list of measures that represent best practices in environmentally-friendly design. Some of the scored features of the Juniper Academic Building include: Surrounding density and diverse building uses, on-site rainwater management, enhanced energy commissioning, quality of indoor environments, and innovation in sustainable design.
