Lofgren’s crafted a market identity with customers looking for the simple, clean lines aesthetic of contemporary design. As Lofgren’s customers frequently visit the warehouse, the Owner desired to renovate the warehouse and create a look that supported this market identity. The boldest aspect of the renovation was cutting out 1,080 square feet of double tee concrete from the main west facing facade. A steel moment frame was used to create the new expansive opening. This allowed the creation of a more aesthetic facade; its main feature being a wall of glass extending up both floors of the building, bringing natural light into virtually every space of the warehouse. The renovated interior doesn’t try to overcome its warehouse identity, but rather, exploits it, with exposed structural features and oversized exposed beams of unfinished wood.
